When did you start DJing ?
2015
What were some of the main challenges and ambitions when you started as a DJ and how have they changed over time?
At the beginning I was creating a diversified and large music library, also building the right music selection depending on the crowd/party. When I started off places to play were never an issue, as Dublin has a variety of Latin parties, but keeping coming back to those same places was the challenge. As I get more experienced I have been asked to play in many events around Europe. The the challenges are a bit different, as you meet a new crowd every party. The music library keeps growing and is important to keep up to date with new releases.
What type of music do you like to play with?
Bachata and Salsa
Which club do you currently Dj in?
River Bar for Latin Fever Events and Strictly Salsa Party in the National Stadium.
Also parties/congresses/festivals around Ireland and Europe.
How would you describe the influence of the DJ over the dance floor?
Essential. A good party is driven by good music specially when people are there to dance.
Let's say you have a gig coming up tonight. What does your approach look like – from selecting the material, opening and then building a set?
I believe there is a feeling to it. As a DJ I try to create an atmosphere. So I do have a music selection but often I step out and choose a music that isn't in that list depending on the atmosphere that comes out. People react to music in different ways so I keep an eye on what's going on and that's when the feeling comes in.
Can you describe your state of mind during a DJ set?
Focused and I am enjoying every single song.
